Competition rules

For choirs one piece in the programme must be a cappella. The others can be with piano. Time limit is 15 mins net .The time limit for orchestras is 20 minutes net. Repertoire can be participant’s own choice.

Participation conditions

The registration fee for a choir or an orchestra: 1 contest category makes 250 EUR, each next one contest category makes 200 EUR. The given registration fee is not paid back in the case of participant's withdrawal from the competition. For participation in the festival without participation in the competition the applying ensemble will pay  200 EUR .

Individual workshops for ensembles can be arranged upon request on the first day of the festival.

Prolonging your stay

Those who would like to prolong their stay in the heart of Europe we highly recommend participating at the  The Wolrd Peace Choral Festival  taking place in the nearby Vienna (only 60km) right after our festival from 30 July- 2 August 2019!

Accommodation and board

Each choir/orchestra including the conductor, accompanying people and bus drivers have to pay their travel expenses, expenses on accommodation and food. Choice of the package is obligatory. The prices are quoted per person.

The package price includes:

• 3x night and breakfast in hotel

• guidance during the whole stay

• Bratislava sightseeing tour

• opening concert of participating ensembles

• public concert performance of participating ensembles

• final diploma ceremony

• information material

Package 3 Hotel **** in Bratislava a city centre

3x night/breakfast in twin/double rooms in a **** hotel (additional fee of 101 EUR for a single room)

Package 2 Hotel ***

3x night/breakfast in twin/double and triple rooms in a *** hotel (additional fee of 60 EUR for a single room)

Package 1 Hotel **

3x night/breakfast in a ** hotel - (2 rooms with a shared bathroom, WC, 2-3 beds)

The organizers reserve the right to arrange accommodation and catering of the participating choirs.

Application

Application deadline: 15th April 2020

The application must be filled in electronically.

After receiving the application form, each accepted participating group will be contacted by email and receive an official confirmation of participation.

The application shall be enclosed with:

• Completed electronic application form

• Competition programme (name of the composition, composer's full name, length of the compositions)

• Sound recording of the choir / orchestra not older than 3 years (mp3, link)

• Choir's / orchestra´s and conductor's brief curricula (ca 10 lines)

• A photo of the choir / orchestra and the conductor (print quality)

• A copy of the scores of the competition pieces (PDF)

• A copy of money order or bank transfer confirming payment for the festival fee

All the materials are to be sent in electronic format!

Diplomas

According to the number of acquired points, the international jury will award
Diploma for participation   up to 59,99 points
Bronze certificate 60 - 74.9 points
Silver certificate 75 - 89.9 points
Gold certificate 90 - 100 points
Grand Prix min. 97 points

Choirs' & Orchestras' Performances during the festival:

• a) choirs: 5 mins sacred music programme a cappella or with piano accompaniment - opening concert, at least one 15 min. performance - free programme

• b) orchestras: 20 minutes orchestral performance

The organizer reserves the right to use the video and sound recordings taken at the festival.

Important dates

15 May 2020 - Deadline for the first payment for room and board - 50%
15  June 2020 - Deadline for the final payment for room and board.
