The youngest department of Kantilena – children and youth choir of the Brno Philharmonic assumed a new name „Magdalenka“, because a former singer of Kantilena, Magdalena Kožena has taken over the conducting of the choir. The choir was established on the initiative of 1956. The aim of the department is give the children the possibility to experience music and to awaken the interest in discovering the possibilities of their voices by means of interesting activities. The Choir of the Secondary school of Jakub Škoda in Přerov works under the baton of Ms Kateřina Skácelová since 2006. Ms Jana Gregošová is the accompanist of the choir. The choir often participates in the choral competitions in the Czech Republic: Christmas Chords Ostrava, Garden of Songs Prague or the National Competition of the secondary schools´ choirs. The choir organizes several concerts all year round in Ostrava and its neighbourhood. Since 2011 there is also a preparatory department of the choir under the name „Gympláček“. The choir aims to work on the various repertoire through which it wants to get their singers and audience to the interest in music and singing.
