Children choir „Svitani“ was founded in September 1996. It became a part of a school of music in Prague, Smichov in 2008. Throughout its existence, the choir has performed a number of concerts both in the Czech Republic and abroad (e.g. Poland, Italy, Austria and Germany). Since the beginning of its existence, the choir has participated in many Czech and foreign competitions, in which it has won many an award – for example in 2012 the choir Svitani took part in the international festival Mundus Cantat Sopot, where it won a silver medal. Since 2006, the choir has also been organising its own choral competition Zahrada písní („The garden of songs“) in which over 30 choirs from all the Czech Republic participate each year. Since September 2010 concert choirs have been headed by Mgr. Tereza Bystricka.
