Competition rules

• One piece in the programme must be a cappella. Other pieces can be accompanied by the piano. Time limit: 15 minutes.
  

• The time limit for orchestras is 20 minutes. Repertoire can be participant’s own choice.

• Each choir and orchestra will receive a diploma certifying the results. The jury may award other special prizes; for instance for the programme dramaturgy, voice production or original interpretation

Participation conditions

The registration fee of a choir: 1 contest category makes 250 EUR, each next one contest category makes 200 EUR. The given registration fee is not paid back in the case of cancellation of the application. For participation in the festival without participation in the competition 200 EUR.

Accommodation and board

Each choir including the conductor, accompanying people and bus drivers shall pay its own travel expenses, expenses on accommodation and food. The prices are quoted per person.

•  guidance during the whole stay

•  Bratislava sightseeing tour

•  opening concert for participants

•  public concert performance for participating choirs

3x night/breakfast in twin rooms in a **** hotel (additional fee of 101 EUR for a single room)

Package 2 Hotel ***

3x night/breakfast in double/twin and triple rooms in a *** hotel (additional fee of 60 EUR for a single room)

Package 1 Hotel **

3x night/breakfast in a ** hotel - 2 rooms with a shared bathroom, WC, 2-3 beds

The organizers reserve the right to arrange accommodation and catering of the participating choirs.

Application

Application deadline: 1st October 2019.
Registration fee per first competition category is 250 EUR/choir and 200 EUR for each next category and it is to be paid before October 1st 2018. In case of cancellation of an application, the fee is not refundable. For participation in the festival without participation in the competition 100 EUR.

The application must be filled in electronically. After receiving the application form, each accepted participating group will be contacted by email and receives an official confirmation of participation.

The application shall be enclosed with the following:

• Complete application form

• Competition program (name of the composition, composer's full name, length of the compositions)

• Sound recording of the choir not older than 3 years (mp3, link)

• Choir and conductor's curricula (10 lines)

• Choir and conductor's photo (print quality)

• Scores for competition works (PDF)

• A copy of money order or bank transfer confirming payment for the festival fee

All the materials are to be sent in electronic format!

Diplomas

Each choir will receive a diploma with the certification of the results. Upon proposal of the jury other prizes of the festival will be awarded; for the best performances from the point of view of dramaturgy, voice culture, or conducting. The jury's decisions are final, no appeals may be made.

An international jury comprising distinguished professionals will judge the competition on the following criteria:
A/ choice of works and programme arrangement
B/ technique and interpretation
C/ artistic impression

Maximum of 100 points, the medals will be awarded as follows:

Diploma for participation up to 59,99 points
Bronze certificate 60,00 - 74,99 points
Silver certificate 75,00 - 89,99 points
Gold certificate 90,00 - 100 points
Grand Prix according to jury's decision, min. 97 points

Important dates

• October 15th 2019 - Deadline for the first payment for room and board - 50%

• November 20th 2019 - Deadline for the final payment for room and board.
