The Choir at the Art School of József Janiga was founded in 2013. It was formed mostly by students with singing specialisation. The aim of the choir is to get acquainted with choir culture and to gain experiences from joint music making. The choir regularly participates in school events and cultural events in the town and in its wider surrounding region. The most important achievements of the choir include winning the gold band at the national competition of Hungarian children and youth choirs “Csengő Énekszó” in 2016 and 2019 as well as the gold band won at the national competition “Singing Youth” in 2017 and 2018. The founder of the choir is Mgr. Dr. Yvette Orsovics, PhD. and its permanent accompanist is Mgr. Lucia Kolenčíková.
Music education teacher, conductor and author of textbooks. She received her university degree at the University of Education in Nitra in the field of Hungarian language and literature and music education. She continued her studies at the Kodály Zoltán Musical Pedagogy Institute, later at the university Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest, and received the academic-scientific title of philosophiae doctor (PhD.) at the Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest. Her teaching activities are versatile. Currently, she is the head of the Department of Primary and Pre-School Education of the Faculty of Education at the J. Selye University in Komárno. She is a conductor of several choirs. She has received several awards and prizes for her successful artistic and educational work.
