The Woodrose Chorale is composed of Junior and Senior High School students. Exposed to singing and interpreting songs from different genres of classical, indigenous, romantic, and contemporary music, these students are committed to spread love and service for God and others through the gift of song. These young women have participated in local and international chorale festivals and c ompetitions such as Chorus Messe Festival in Osaka, Japan; SingaFour Major Caritas V in Singapore; the 9th Asian Youth Kagoshima Festival in Kagoshima, Japan; A Voyage of Songs Competition in Malaysia, where they won Gold and emerged as champions; CMLI’s Voices in Harmony in 2017 where they ranked among the top ten; the Intersecondary Choral Singing National Competition held in the De La Salle University, Dasmariñas, where they ranked 4th in the Finals; and “KANTA”, a Chorale Festival held in St. Cecilia’s Hall, St. Scholastica’s College, Manila, among others. The Woodrose Chorale continues to express their love for their country and appreciation of varied cultures through their voices and passion reflected in their chosen repertoire.
The Woodrose Chorale has been under the tutelage of Mrs. Myrene Bagayaua-Carballo since 2017. Ms. Boots, as she is fondly called, is a graduate of Bachelor of Music, Major in Music Education, Associate in Piano, minor in Voice at the Sta. Isabel College, Manila. She has been teaching Music to high school students in PAREF Woodrose School for Girls since 2011. Her skill in choral conducting was honed by her father, the late Mr. Boboy Bagayaua, Jr. an arranger, composer and chorale conductor, whom she assisted in training choirs from different schools, parishes, and companies. Ms. Boots is affiliated with the following organizations: Philippine Chorale Directors Association (PCDA), Philippine Society for Music Education (PSME), Ministry of Liturgical Music (MLM), and the Vicariate of Holy Family of the Archdiocese of Parañaque. At present, she handles four choirs in different parishes: Grand Choir of Music Ministry of the Association of Sto. Niño de Pandacan, Pamilya Dugtong Choir, Quoro dei Gloriam, and the Sta. Cecilia Chapel Children’s Choir in Las Piñas. Together with the Woodrose Chorale, the Woodrose Teacher’s Choir and her parish choirs, she continues to inspire people to serve God and the community through music.
