Graduated from the Music Education Department and completed postgraduate studies in conducting at PWSM in Kraków. Head of Polish Radio and Television Choir in Kraków, and then of the Kraków Philharmonic Choir. Under his leadership, the choirs performed in Teatro alla Scala in Milan, in Teatro Regio in Turin, Academia di Santa Cecilia in Rome, UNESCO concert hall in Paris, Beethovensaal in Stuttgart, Brucknerhaus in Linz. Since 1986 he has been a conductor of Capella Cracoviensis, in 1992 he took over as conductor of the Tarnów Chamber Orchestra. He performed in Wigmore Hall in London, as well as at music festivals all over the world, as a choirmaster he cooperated with famous conductors, such as Z. Mehta, K. Penderecki, H. Rilling, W. Rowicki, D. Shalom, S. Wisłocki, A. Wit. Made first performances of newly discovered works of A. Bruckner as well as of many works of Polish composers: Z. Bujarski, H.M. Górecki, R. Maciejewski, R. Palester, M. Stachowski. Together with the Krakow Philharmonic choir and orchestra he made the first Polish performance of A.I. Webber Requiem. As a member of the jury he participated in numerous conducting competitions. He made several recordings for both Polish and foreign record companies. In 1995 he was appointed director of the Unit and then of the Choral Department, in 1999 he was elected dean of Music Education Department of the Academy of Music in Kraków. After the untimely death of Rector Marek Stachowski he was elected Rector of the Academy. During his rectorship the Academy of Music in Kraków was classified in the ranking of Wprost weekly as the best artistic school in Poland.
