The choir of the József Gregor Primary School of Budapest XVIIth District was founded in 1956 by Mrs. Artúr Kutas. It has been existing permanently from 1965 under the leadership of Mrs. Egon Princz and Krisztina Dávid since 2007. The members of the choir are the 10-15 years old pupils of the special music classes. The choir has its own concerts at Christmas time and in the spring every year, it also performs on various cultural events and choir festivals. The choir was awarded by „The Choir of the Year” prize in 2012, 2014 and 2018. In 2015 and 2018 it won „Golden Diploma” on the Zoltán Kodály Choir Competition in children’s choir category. The choir was invited to and took part on several different events such as festive concert at the National Theatre, Spring Choir Festive at the Budapest Spring Festival, József Gregor Memorial Concert, József Karai Memorial Concert in Dunaújváros, Ipoly Festival with the Civitas Symphonic Orchestra. On the repertoire of the choir there are those spiritual and secular choral works from the different periods of history of music, which fit best to the children’s age. The main principle when arranging their programme is the variegation in style and character.
