The Hunyadi Véndiák Mixed Choir from Budapest was formed in 2006 by old student of the Hunyadi János Elementary Music School, on the occasion of the 50 year anniversary jubilee. After the festive concert the half of the members of this choir decided to continue singing with the leadership of their music teacher and conductor, Sebestyénné Farka Illona. Since their fondation they have participated in number of large-scaled home concerts, including Z. Kodály: The Transylvanian Spinning Room/Székelyfonó/, Psalmus Hungaricus, János Háry and C. Orff: Carmina Burana. They are regular performers of a lot of festivals, choir meetings and music days, namely BETAZEN in Békés town, the Hungarian State Opera House - Nutcracker Festival, Erkel Opera House - "Dalárnap" - Choir's meeting, Music Days of Lajos Bardos, flashmobs of Z, Kodály... The choir performed with Marta Sebestyén / The Hungarian Ambassy of Culture / in Academy of Music of Budapest, Pécs and Pásztó towns. They performed also in foreign countries such as Wien /Austria/, Ohrid /Macedonia/, Beregszász and Munkács /Ukraine/. The choir often take part in many Advent and Easter concerts in churches. Results: • 2015 - National Council of Choirs /KÓTA/ qualification, golden certification • 2015 - Z. Kodály Choirs Competition, golden qualification • 2016 - Maria Radio - Choirs competition - golden qualification
She is a high shool music teacher, a director of the choir and a music pedagogue. • 1953 - Graduated in Békés-Tarhos Music school. This school was honored by the Hungarian Heritage Award in 2007, • 1958 - Finished Ferenc Liszt Music Art of Academy as a Kodály's student, • 2018 - Diamond diploma of the Academy of Music. The highest state honors: • 2005 - The Silver Cross of Merit of the Republic of Hungary, • 2015 - The Order of Merit of Hungarian Republic, Officer's Cross.
