Gelu Onţanu-Crăciun is a music teacher at the “Sigismund Toduţă” High School of Music and Arts and conductor of many choirs: Children's Choir Lira between 1997 and 2011, Choral Group Musica Divina between 2011 and 2014, Church Choir Bunavestire from 1996 ongoing, and mixed youth Choir Orfeu in 2005 and from 2008 ongoing. He has won many prizes in national and international competitions or festivals with all these choirs during the past years, and was also included as member in regional and national choral competition juries. He has been distinguished with many diplomas of honor or excellence by different organisations such as the Romanian Education Ministry, the Regional Orthodox Diocese, the Rotary Club, the Regional Library and others. In December 2014, he was granted the Diploma for best conductor at the “God Is With Us” festival competition of sacred music and Christmas carols in Orăştie, district of Hunedoara, Romania.
