Chamber Choir "Val"

Chamber Choir "Val" from Rijeka is a mixed choir which was founded in September 2012. The repertoire of the choir includes compositions written by Croatian and foreign composers, pieces of spiritual and secular nature, folk and pop songs. So far, the choir has held solo concerts, performed at different festivals such as Advent Music Festivals in Prague and Budapest, and participated at domestic and international choral competitions. In 2014, at the state competition, the choir was given the “Award for the exceptional choral sound“. In May 2015 the choir won two silver awards, one in the category of classical and the other in the category of spiritual music at the International Choir Competition "Aurora Cantat“.

Doris Kovacic (Rijeka, 1977) is a conductor, composer, teacher and mentor who works as a teacher of music theory, conducting and choir singing in the music school in Rijeka. She is also the artistic director and conductor of the Youth Choir "Josip Kaplan" Rijeka and the Chamber Choir "Val". She regularly holds choir concerts and participates in choral competitions in the country and abroad, where she has won numerous awards. She has been awarded gold, silver and bronze awards, special awards for conducting and, with the Youth Choir “Josip Kaplan”, she was the winner of the first season of the TV show “Last Choir Standing” in Croatia. She is a member of the Croatian Composers Society and the Croatian Choral Association and choirs.
