The “Amigas em Voz” is a female amateur choir from Curitiba, Brazil, composed of friends who love singing together. Since 2007, the group gathers together on a weekly basis, not only for rehearsals, but also for sharing friendship and the happiness of singing. Its main repertoire consists of popular Brazilian music, such as: samba, bossa nova, chorus and carnival marches. The goal of “Amigas em Voz” is not only to promote the Brazilian musical cultural heritage, but also to foster the musical taste among students of primaries schools, and to bring a peaceful message to people in rest homes, nurseries and hospitals. The group has been participating in local music festivals, which take place in important theaters in Curitiba. The group travelled to Saint Petersburg for the Choir Festival in 2012 where it participated as non-competitor. At Christmas time, children in orphanages do not only wish toys for presents, but also to hear the “Amigas em Voz” ensemble singing Christmas music. The “Amigas em Voz” choir is conducted and directed by Elena Moukhorkina Moreno, born and graduated in Belarus and who has been living in Brazil for the last 15 years. As the science seeks truth, art seeks beauty. Through the beauty of music, all peoples can hear the universal language of the heart.
