Competition rules

Performance time limit: The performance time limit for choirs is 15 minutes; a piano is available. The time limit for orchestras is 20 minutes.

Participation conditions

The registration fee for one ensemble: 1 contest category is 250 EUR, each further contest category is 200 EUR.  For participation in the festival without participation in the competition: 200 EUR. The registration fee is not paid back in the case of cancellation of the application.

Individual workshops for ensembles can be arranged upon request on the first day of the festival.

Accommodation and board

The organizers reserve the right to arrange accommodation and board for the participating choirs within one of the offered packages. Each choir including the conductor, accompanying people and bus drivers have to pay their travel expenses, expenses on accommodation and food. Choice of the package is obligatory.The prices are quoted per person.

The package price includes:

• 3x night and breakfast in hotel

• Guidance during the whole stay

• Bratislava sightseeing tour

• Opening concert of participating ensembles
  

• Public concert performance of participating ensembles
  

• Final diploma ceremony

Package 3 Hotel **** in Bratislava a city centre

3x night/breakfast in twin/double rooms in a **** hotel (additional fee of 180 EUR for a single room)

Package 2 Hotel ***

3x night/breakfast in twin/double and triple rooms in a *** hotel (additional fee of 120 EUR for a single room)

Package 1 Hotel **

3x night/breakfast in a ** hotel - (2 rooms with a shared bathroom, WC, 2-3 beds),(additional fee of  95 EUR for a single room)

Application

Application deadline: August 1st, 2024
After receiving the application form, each accepted participating group will be contacted by email and receive an official confirmation of participation.

The application shall be enclosed with the following:

• Complete application form

• Competition programme (name of the compositions, composer's full name, length of the compositions)

• Sound recording of the choir not older than 3 years (a mp3 or a link)

• Choir's orchestra's and conductor's curricula (cca 10 lines each)

• Choir's, orchestra's and conductor's photo

• Scores of the competition works (to be sent via email in PDF format)

• A copy of money order or bank transfer confirming the payment of the festival fee.

All the materials are to be sent in electronic format!

Diplomas

Each ensemble will receive a diploma certifying the results. The jury may award other special prizes; for instance for programme dramaturgy, voice production or original interpretation. 

Jury decisions are final, no appeals may be made. 

According to the number of acquired points, the international jury will award:

Diploma for participation up to 59,99 points
Bronze certificate 60 - 74,99 points
Silver certificate 75 - 89,99 points
Gold certificate 90 - 100 points
Grand Prix BRATISLAVA CANTAT min. 97 points

Choirs' & Orchestras' Performances during the festival:

• a) choirs: 5 mins sacred music programme a cappella or with piano accompaniment - opening concert, at least one 15 min. performance - free programme

• b) orchestras: 20 minutes orchestral performance

The organizer reserves the right to use the video and sound recordings taken at the festival.

Important dates

• 1st August 2024– deadline for sending in the application form

• 15th August 2024 - deadline for the first payment for room and board - 50%

• 25th August 2024 - deadline for the final payment for room and board

Cancellation policy

Cancellation policy of the whole group:

Up to 61 days before Festival begin: 0% cancellation fee of the group package price

60 – 32 days before Festival begin: 50% cancellation fee of the group package price

31 – 15 days before Festival begin: 75% cancellation fee of the group package price

15 – 0 days before Festival begin: 100% cancellation fee of the group package price

 Individual cancellations:

Up to 60 days before Festival begin: 0% cancellation fee of the group package price

59 – 32 days before Festival begin: 10% persons of the whole group can be cancelled for free

(which means, for example: the group of 30 persons can cancel the stay of 3 persons for free- package price)

31 – 15 days before Festival begin: 6% persons of the whole group can be cancelled for free (for example: the group of 30 persons for 3 nights can cancel 1,8 persons for free) 

14 –8 days before Festival begin: 3% persons of the whole group can be cancelled for free (for example: the group of 30 persons for 3 nights can cancel 1 person for free) 

7-0 days before Festival begin: 0% persons can be cancelled for free
