The Jugendsinfonieorchester Radebeul is a youth symphony orchestra of the music school of Meissen district (Musikschule des Landkreises Meißen) and is home to the most talented music students of the music school. While film music is very popular as well, the repertoire mainly includes classical and romantic music. Ensembletrips have taken the orchestra to Italy, Spain, the Czech Republic and Austria. Matthias Herbig has conducted the orchestra since 2015.
Matthias Herbig was a member of the Dresdner Kreuzchor and studied conducting with Prof. Hans-Christoph Rademann and Prof. Christian Kluttig at the academy of music "Carl Maria von Weber" in Dresden from 1996-2003. Matthias Herbig actively participated in master classes under Prof. Siegfried Kurz and Prof. Eric Ericson. He conducts the kammerorchester heidenau the Haydn-Orchester Dresden and has worked as a conductor of numerous well-known orchestras already, including the Mittelsächsische Philharmonie Freiberg, the Severočeská filharmonie Teplice, the Orchester der Landesbühnen Sachsen, the Sinfonietta Dresden, the Elbland Philharmonie Sachsen and the Prague baroque orchestra Collegium 1704.
