The BONIFANTES Boys’ Choir was founded in the year 1999 and has won a place among the cream of the choir ensembles in the Czech Republic in its short life. Nowadays the choir takes part in about 100 concerts and performances each year. Among the successes achieved so far are a number of concert tours not only to Europe, but also to Thailand, Canada and USA. The choir also performed in operas Tosca and Carmen alongside world-famous soloists like Mara Zampieri (La Scala) or Peter Dvorský. Among large range of recordings made by the choir are the world premieres - e.g. Luigi – Cherubini – Messa Solenne Breve in B-flat Major, W. A. Mozart – Missa in C and also complete men choruses of Antonín Dvořák. Artistic guidance to the BONIFANTES Boys’ Choir is provided by its founder, Mr. Jan Míšek. Talented boys from the age of 4 to 18 years of age work in seven departments of the singing school known as “BONIFANTES School of Arts” with capacity of 350 students.
Jan Míšek (*1976) gained his first choirmaster experience by leading the preparatory section of Boni pueri. His professors of conducting were Professor Jiří Skopal (University of Hradec Králové) and Doctor Vlastislav Novák (Conservatory Pardubice). He is a graduate of several Master classes (prof. Gert Frischmuth, Gábor Hollerung, prof. Friedrich Krell, Robert Sund, prof. Jerry Jordan, Petr Vronský) including Masterclasses under Bachakademie Stuttgart with prof. Helmuth Rilling. He lived his greatest dream and founded the BONIFANTES Boys’ Choir in Pardubice in 1999. In spite of his youth, Jan Míšek has been presented with a number of awards for outstanding conducting performance. Jan Míšek is also involved in composing activities. He is the author of several cantatas (Inter arma silent musae, Holčička se sirkami). He won the 2nd Prize at Joseph Dorman International Composer’s Competition.
