MYSTIC CHOIR has started up on 17th November 2014, symbolically on the day of 25th Anniversary of the Velvet revolution. This ambitious ensemble works within the School of Art in Rimavská Sobota. Their music style combines songs from pop music and classical music as well. Their musical expression is characteristic with polyphonic vocals in a capella style accompanied by piano or drums when needed. Repertoire of the choir consists from the world pop music songs. Every performance is enriched with a tiny choreography and slovak folk song in the end. Members of the choir are former and current students of the School of Art and other singers who love to sing. The ensemble has already performed on several regional concerts and happenings. Piano accompanying leads Mrs. Eva Čarnoká. Founders of the choir are Mrs. Helena Danišová, manager, and Mrs. Jana Dobrocká, artistic director of the choir.
Jana Dobrocká
Conductor / Leader
After the graduation on the Musical Conservatory in Košice, she studied choir conducting at the Charles University in Prague. She finished her musical education with PhD studies at the University of Matej Bell in Banská Bystrica. She has worked at the School of Art in Rimavská Sobota since 1995, where she teaches accordion and vocals. She is currently working with several choirs as conductress and vocal consultant. She is the artistic director of the MYSTIC CHOIR from its beginning.
