The Banjaluka Serbian Singing Society Jedinstvo is one of the oldest societies in the Republic of Srpska. Established in 1893, it operated until 1941 when its activities were prohibited by occupation authorities. In 1992, on the initiative of Protoiereus Stavrophore Ratko Radujković and Professor Nemanja Savić, the Singing Society was re-established and now includes the Mixed Choir and the Children’s Choir. Under the leadership of conductor Nemanja Savić, the Mixed Choir has demonstrated its impressive artistic breadth through numerous concerts held in the Republic of Srpska (Bosnia and Herzegovina), former Yugoslav countries, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Italy, France, Australia, the USA, China, Russia, and beyond. The choir performs approximately twenty times a year, encompassing concerts, liturgies at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Banja Luka and other venues, festivals, competitions, guest appearances both domestically and internationally, various celebrations, promotional events, solemn academies, and other cultural engagements. Over the years, the Mixed Choir has recorded numerous radio and TV programs, produced ten standalone albums, ten CDs, several DVDs, music videos, documentaries, and more.
Nemanja Savić was born in Banja Luka in 1957. He completed his bachelor's and master's studies in the Department of Conducting at the Faculty of Music, University of Arts in Belgrade. Currently, he serves as a full professor at the Academy of Arts in Banja Luka, where he teaches Choir and Choral Conducting. Alongside his academic career, Nemanja Savić conducts several choirs, including the Mixed Choir of Banjaluka Singing Society Jedinstvo, the Priest Choir of Banja Luka Eparchy, the Women’s Choir Carica Jelena, the Male Choir Konstantin, and the Mixed Choir of the Academy of Arts and University in Banja Luka. As a conductor, Nemanja Savić has conducted concerts extensively throughout former Yugoslavia, Italy, Greece, Slovakia, Czechia, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, Cyprus, Albania, Malta, China, Russia, Australia, and the USA. He has achieved over 40 first prizes in various choir competitions in Bosnia and Herzegovina and internationally. In addition to his conducting and teaching roles, Nemanja Savić is also an accomplished composer. He has authored several choral collections, vocalizes, and numerous pieces for choirs, ensembles, and soloists. His compositions span various genres and are performed both domestically and internationally.
