Conductor, pianist and choirmaster, Pasquale Veleno studied conducting with Marcello Bufalini and Donato Renzetti, piano with Maria Michelini and Nazzareno Carusi, and composition with Edgar Alandia. As a conductor, his activity over the years has seen him perform major repertoire works on stages all over the world: from Boston to Beijing, from Mexico City to Toronto, from Miami to Dakar, from Caracas to Monterrey, as well as in major Italian and European cities, including Paris, Prague, Edinburgh, Kiev, Krakow and Stuttgart. In this capacity, he has had the opportunity to collaborate with prestigious soloists, among them the singers Cecilia Gasdia, Carmela Remigio and Monica Bacelli, the violinist Pavel Berman, the first viola of the Teatro alla Scala Danilo Rossi, the first violoncello and first oboe of the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di S. Cecilia Luigi Piovano and Francesco di Rosa. He has conducted the SBS Radio and Television Youth Symphony Orchestra of Sydney, the Orchestra Sinfonica B. Maderna, the Orchestra Sinfonica Silvestre Revueltas, the Chernivetsk Philharmonic Symphonic of Lviv, the Symphony Orchestra of China National Opera and Dance Drama Theatre, the Orchestra da Camera de Bellas Artes, the South Beach Chamber Ensemble of Miami, the Parkway Concert Orchestra of Boston, the Kalisz Philharmonic and the Krakow Philharmonic Orchestra. He also conducted the Pescara Symphony Orchestra on tours in Venezuela in 2006 and in Canada in 2007. His activity as conductor is accompanied by an equally prestigious presence in the world of choral music. He is founder and conductor of the Coro della Virgola and the Coro dell’Accademia, with which he has put on successful productions both in Italy and abroad, and has achieved significant results in some of the most important choral competitions. He has been Chorus Master of the Pergolesi Theatre Choir in Jesi and Le Muse in Ancona and Director of the ARCA Regional Choir. As permanent director of the ensemble, he also performed with the Ud’A Choir in an acclaimed concert tour in Massachusetts (USA), broadcast worldwide by RaiSat. Also dedicated to teaching, Pasquale Veleno has held positions at the Conservatories of Fermo, Foggia, Matera, Messina, Pescara, Monopoli and Rodi Garganico, and currently teaches Choral Conducting and Choral Rehearsal Practice in Foggia and in Pescara. He also regularly holds seminars and masterclasses for Barry University in Miami, Croatia and Russia.
