The Estonian Radio Children’s Choir consists of 25 girls aged 10 to 14, who come from various schools in Tallinn and the surrounding areas. Many of them also study an instrument at music school. The choir has toured both in Estonia and abroad, visiting Belgium, the Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Latvia, Norway, Poland, Spain, Sweden, and the USA. Since 2007, they have participated in all Estonian Song Celebrations. The choir's repertoire ranges from medieval music to contemporary works, including folk programs with choreography and pop-jazz music. The children’s choir has given several concerts in cooperation with professional concert agencies, such as Eesti Kontsert, Viru Folk, and Jazzkaar. One of the main tasks of the Estonian Radio choirs is recording children’s and youth music by Estonian composers. To date, they have released 18 CDs under the Estonian Public Broadcast label. Significant highlights of the Estonian Radio Children’s Choir in recent years include concerts at the Bonner SchumannFest featuring children’s music by Arvo Pärt in 2024, participation in EUROPA CANTAT Junior in Gent in 2023, participation in the international Jeunes Voix Mêlées festival in Thuir in 2022, and winning the 1st prize cum laude at the Estonian Children’s Choirs’ Competition in 2022. The choir works with conductors Kadri Hunt and Kaie Tanner, vocal coach Anu Aimla, dance teacher Märt Agu, and theory teacher Elina Kaasik.
Kadri Hunt is a choral conductor, singer, composer, arranger and music teacher. She is the chief conductor of Children’s Singing Studio of Estonian Radio since 1999. From 1995 she is also conductor of St Michael’s Boys’ Choir, which repertory consists of Gregorian chant, old sacred music, folk hymns and folk songs. Kadri has been an atelier leader in several international festivals, and has worked regularly in the jury of many soloists’ and choirs competition in Estonia. Kadri’s choral compositions have been performed by choirs both in Estonia and abroad. She is also active as a soloist, sings in sacred music ensemble Heinavanker (since 1997), and Gregorian chant ensemble Vox Clamantis (since 2001). Kaie Tanner is a choral conductor and manager. She holds the position of Secretary General in Estonian Choral Association and conducts the choirs of Children’s Music Studio of Estonian Radio since 2010. Kaie Tanner has conducted children’s choirs in several Estonian Song Celebrations and other festivals, lead workshops and made presentations at numerous Estonian and international festivals and conferences, worked in juries of international choir festivals (Bejing, Neerpelt, Hong Kong, Kaunas, Jurmala) etc. Kaie Tanner is the president of Choral Festival Network and Board Member of International Federation for Choral Music (IFCM) and Estonian Choral Association.
