Wattana Girls Chorus
Thailand
The Wattana Girls’ Chorus has earned international recognition for their ability to perform as a choir. This legacy stems from the influence and teachings of Christian missionaries in hymn singing since 1874, when Thailand’s first all-girls academy was founded at Wattana. The Wattana Girls’ Chorus itself was founded in 1989. Over the years, the chorus has been part of several significant events.
Sathit Sukchongchaipruk
Conductor / Leader
Sathit is the vice president of the Thailand Choral Directors Association and one of the founding members of the Thailand Choral Association. He has served as an adjudicator in numerous choral competitions both in Thailand and internationally. In 2014, he was awarded the Conductor's Prize at the XIII Moscow Sounds Festival. He has led his choirs to win many gold awards and numerous special jury prizes. Today, he is a recognized and respected figure in the local choral scene.
