The Women’s Chamber Choir Solfeggio is a newly formed choir consisting of passionate singers who meet together on the grounds of VŠMU for the Solfeggio subject, hence the name. The members of the choir are mainly students of singing, but also singers who are part of other choirs. Established in January 2024, the choir's repertoire currently includes works by Slovak composers and various compositions of liturgical texts. The joy and enthusiasm for singing is visible and audible, providing choir members with a meaningful sense of community in their leisure time. The students then use the values that only singing in the choir brings in their artistic professional life: tone creation, tuning, phrasing, listening to other voices, learned interpretation.
Petra Torkošová, choir conductor, is currently pursuing doctoral studies at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava in the Department of Composition and Conducting, where she also holds a teaching position. She collaborates with the Aréna Theatre on the monodrama "Tiso" and serves as an external member of the Wiener Singakademie choir. Petra has worked with the International Choir Academy Lübeck in Hamburg alongside Rolf Beck. She founded and directed the children’s choir Gorazdík for 10 years. Since 2013, Petra has been leading the STU Technik Choir, and from January 2024, she has taken charge of the Solfeggio Choir. Under her direction, these choirs have premiered works by young Slovak composers, showcasing innovative sound experiments and spatial sound art. Petra has been actively involved in numerous international projects, including engagements in Luxembourg, Italy, Hamburg, and Israel, where she conducted a series of concerts. Her leadership with the STU Technik Choir has earned numerous awards both locally and internationally.
