The choir was founded in 1828 as an optional activity for students. Throughout all these years, the choir has advanced greatly, thanks to former professors, namely conductors. Professor Jasmina Neskovic served as the conductor from 1983 to 2011. Following her tenure, Professor Jovan Travica took over and has since passed on his love for music and choral singing to his students. He has been the conductor of this choir since 2011, which currently counts roughly 130 singers. Thanks to participating in various competitions, we have earned a place among the thousand best choirs worldwide on the international choral association list of MUSICA MUNDI. Over the years, the choir has held numerous concerts and performances in Serbia, as well as internationally in Belarus, Switzerland, Germany, Slovenia, and many other countries. For the past 18 years, our choir has maintained its position as the best high school choir in Serbia. Currently, we boast a very rich repertoire, focusing on dozens of compositions.
Professor Jovan Travica has a diverse background in music education and conducting.
