The Skanderborg Girls' Choir is comprised of 40 singers aged 16 to 25 and is based in Skanderborg. Established in 2001 by Alice Vestergaard, who continues to lead the choir alongside Freja Nørager, the ensemble boasts a rich history. The choir prides itself on its exploration of various genres, with its repertoire spanning Danish songs, pop, jazz, and classical movements. Over the past decade, the choir has actively participated in numerous international competitions, including the World Choir Games in China, Latvia, and the United States, as well as the European Choir Championships. In the summer of 2019, the choir demonstrated its talent at the "Bratislava Youth Music Festival" in Slovakia, where it secured two gold medals in the pop and classical categories.
Alice Vestergaard graduated from The Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, Denmark in 1989. Since then, she has worked as a music teacher and choir conductor, accumulating over 30 years of experience, primarily with women's choirs. Freja Nørager graduated from The Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, Denmark in 2021. She is currently working as a singer, composer, arranger, and choir conductor. In addition to her role as a conductor, she devotes a significant amount of time to her Danish duo-project, Gadekær. Alice and Freja are colleagues who complement each other with different strengths. Additionally, they share a unique relationship as mother and daughter.
