Belilios Public School Symphony Orchestra

Ever since her establishment in 1890, Belilios Public School has been providing girls from all walks of life with a whole-person education. We nurture our students to become future leaders who possess inquisitive minds with confidence and are willing to serve with their humble hearts. Founded in 1971, the Belilios Public School Symphony Orchestra has a long history of providing invaluable opportunities for gifted musicians to develop talents and discover their potential. It enables students to develop their confidence to instil in them a sense of responsibility through rehearsals, competitions, and performances. With the dedication of the musicians and unlimited support from the school, the orchestra strikes for improvement and refinement of its musicality. Under the leadership of the instructors, students establish a strong team spirit. Their endeavours have given the orchestra various opportunities to win prizes in different music competitions. The orchestra has been winning numerous awards in local music festivals and competitions.
Edith Tam
Conductor / Leader
Edith Tam is a versatile musician, dedicated to serving society through music as both a hornist and conductor. She obtained her Master of Music from the Royal Northern College of Music in England and is a founding member of the acclaimed Viva! Pipers, a group that has been delighting audiences in Hong Kong with engaging and interactive music programs since 2014. Edith, also known for her conducting career, has worked with various organizations such as the FM Power Theatre, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Orchestra, the Classicarts Chamber Orchestra in Tokyo. She was also chosen to represent Hong Kong to attend the WASBE & World Music Contest conducting masterclasses in the Netherlands and Tokyo in 2017. Edith also works with Team Building Asia as the conductor of the Orchestrate! program, leading a leadership workshop for corporations. Recently, Edith has collaborated with renowned conductors such as Maestro Philippe Fournier, Douglas Bostock, Jimmy Chiang & Jason Lai to present conducting masterclasses in Hong Kong. Edith is also a dedicated music educator, teaching at several institutions including the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Belilios Public School, Munsang College, St Mark’s School, and the Kellett School. In her leisure time, she enjoys hiking with her beloved dog, Coffee, embracing nature's beauty.
