MediCoro is a chamber choral ensemble founded 2007, based in Białystok, Poland. Group comprising 14 singers - medical doctor - former members of the Choir of Medical University of Białystok, which exists over 65 years and has many achievements. MediCoro regularly performs across the Poland, focuses mainly on the masterworks of the early music. In 2009, choir was invited by the Triangiel Music Publishers to premiere a collection of Spanish Christmas Carols composed by Marcin Łukasz Mazur. In 2011 MediCoro has recorded and issued CD “Musica pro anima” with sacred music of the Renaissance and Baroque composers. Ensemble won many national and world choir competitions prizes. Since the beginning, the choir is conducted by Professor Bożenna Sawicka, DMus Hab.
Bożenna Sawicka graduated from the Department of Music Education at the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw (Professor Henryk Wojnarowski’s class 1975), the Department of Composition, Conducting and Music Theory (Music Theory Section 1979) and the Postgraduate Choirmaster Studies at the Bydgoszcz Academy of Music. In 1979 she began to co-operate with the Medical Academy Choir in Białystok. From 1991 to 2017 she has been the artistic director and conductor of the choir 1991 and with it she has won many prizes. Since October 1998 she has been Full Professor and she currently holds the function of Dean of the Department of Pedagogical and Instrumental Studies in Białystok. She is a laureate of many awards: from the Minister of Culture and Art for her pedagogical and artistic achievements (1993), The Decoration of Honor Meritorious for Polish Culture (2006), Medal for Merit to Culture - Gloria Artis (2007), the City President of Białystok Artistic Award (2012). From 2007 she is conductor of MediCoro Chamber Choir.
