The Sursum corda choir was founded as an amateur church choir in Rosina in 1994. Its aim is to spread the choral art and preserve its tradition. The choir has performed at various festival events and concerts not only in Slovakia but also abroad (Czech Republic, Poland). One of the major awards is the silver band (medal) at the International Festival of Songs Olomouc 2016. Since 2009, the choir has been led by the conductor, composer and teacher Mgr. art. Tomáš Vrškový.
He is a graduate of the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica, with the major of choir conducting in the class of prof. Štefan Sedlický. In addition to the choir Sursum corda he is also conducting the Girls’ Choir in the Conservatory of Žilina, the Boys Choir “Our Boys”, the Mixed Choir Kysuca and he is the Vice-Conductor of the Slovak Teachers Choir. His works are presented by various top performers in Slovakia.
