Mixed choir “Mītava” Founded in 1987 by conductor Agija Pizika, who was the leader of Choir next 32 years. In September 2019 Choir got new Conductor Staņislavs Semjonovs. Slovakia Cantat 2020 will be the 2nd event of Choir with new Leader. From 1990 “Mītava” has participated in all Latvian Song and Dance festivals and included Choir competitions (“choir wars”) ordinary taking place once in 5 years. Singers in “Mītava” comes from different parts of society and have different proffessions – students, teachers, constructors, foresters etc., and people directly involved in music as profession. Important events in last years: 2014 – participation in choir festival “Laudate Dominum”, Vilnius, Lithuania 2015 and 2017 – participation in choir festival “Silver Bells”, Daugavpils, Latvia 2016 – participation in choir festival “Zem Māras zīmes” (Under the sign aof Māra (Latvian Goddess)), Dobele, Latvia 2019 – participation in choir festival in Gdansk, Poland
Staņislavs Semjonovs (1974) currently studies choir conducting at Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music, in the class of prof. Sigvards Kļava. Staņislavs has gained great experience as a singer in following choirs - "National male choir", "Blagovest", "Swedbank choir" and "Emīls Dārziņš mixed choir". He has been an artist in chamber choir "Ave Sol". With all the choirs Staņislavs has actively performed in Latvia, as well as abroad. Currently working as choir master in Jānis Poruks elementary school. Staņislavs is the artistic director and conductor of chamber choir "Mītava" since October 2019.
