Ellerhein Children`s Choir at Tallinn Centre of Extracurricular Activities Kullo consists of students of different schools of Tallinn, aged 10 to 14. Most singers come from the Ellerhein Young Children´s Choir and proceed to the Girls´Choir after three years in the Children´s choir. In addition to choir practice, the children have lessons in solfeggio, harmony and individual voice training. The choir uses the movable do system, providing for faster sight-reading. The conductors of the choir are Anneli Mäeots and Ilona Muhel, supported by accompanist and music history teacher Reinut Tepp. Although most of the choir´s concerts take place in Estonia, they have also participated in several international festivals in other countries. The children´s choir has won numerous awards in competitions: 1 st prize and gold diploma at the World Peace Choral Festival in Vienna in 2015 1 st prizes cum laude in the categories of children´s choirs and folk music at the European Music Festival for Young People in Neerpelt, Belgium in April 2016 3 rd prize in the category of children´s choirs at the International Choir Festival Tallinn 2017. In May 2017, the choir was invited by the Mariinsky Theatre to participate in a performance of “Carmina Burana” by Carl Orff at the Singing Baltic Festival (patrone Valery Gergiev) in Vyborg, Russia.
Anneli Mäeots (b 1942) started her music education at Nõmme Children Music School and Tallinn Music School and graduated from the Tallinn Conservatory in the class on Jüri Variste. Anneli Mäeots is the chief conductor of Ellerhein Children´s Choir and teaches choir conducting at Tallinn Music High School. Many well-known Estonian conductors have been her students- Olari Elts, Risto Joost, Mihhail Gerts etc. Anneli Mäeots has conducted joint choirs at several Estonian Song Celebrations.
