The Loreto Secondary Youth Choir are part of the music programme in Loreto Secondary School Kilkenny Ireland. Choir is voluntary and is open to all who want to sing.This group have been together for the past six years. The choir practice once a week but have had many extra rehearsals leading up to our performance in Bratislava. They have taken part in various choral competitions, concerts and charity concerts in Ireland. Most notably they won The Chamber Choir Competition in The Kilkenny Choral Festival.
Lorraine Maher
Conductor / Leader
Lorraine Maher studied music for 3 years in Maynooth where she gained invaluable experience as a choral singer in the Maynooth Chamber Choir. Lorraine was also part of the Schola Gregorian group and travelled to Hungary to compete in The International Chant Festival. Lorraine is Head of the Music Departement in Loreto Secondary School and conducts 8 choirs and a large school orchestra. The Orchestra won Feis Ceoil in 2017 under her direction. Lorraine directed the hugely popular musical ‘High School Musical’ in Kilkenny in 2018 which saw the collaboration of two schools in Kilkenny, Loreto and St. Kieran’s College. Lorraine is part of a wedding singing trio called ‘Three Tones’ and they travel all over Ireland to sing and play at wedding ceremonies and receptions.
