The mixed choir of Grammar School in Orlová has been working at the school since 2001, it regularly represents both the school and the town participating in numerous competitions and festivals in the Czech Republic and they frequently achieve the best results. Besides, the choir has participated in international festivals of choir music in Poland, Slovakia, Switzerland, Mexico and Italy. In the December 2014 the choir achieved a great success becoming the absolute winner in the international competition Prague Christmas and the jury awarded the choirmaster Petra Rašíková with the special prize for her excellent conducting. The choirmaster is Petra Rašíková, her assistant is Jana Lukšová and Aleš Bína plays the piano.
Mgr. Petra Rašíková graduated from the Pedagogical Faculty of Ostrava University in 2005, studying Teaching for General Subjects for Secondary Schools – Musical Education and Conducting, under the leadership of prof. Lumír Pivovarský. Currently she is a conductor and an art leader of the Orlová Grammar School Mixed Choir. She also works at the primary school in Orlová as a conductor of Kopretina Children´s Choir and she teaches solo singing at the Art Music School in Orlová-Poruba. Since September 2013 Petra Rašíková has become a conductor of the university choir CHORUS OSTRAVA, based at the Faculty of Economics in the Technical University of Ostrava.
