The older tambura orchestra is one of the most successful and well known amateur orchestras in Croatia, and has been known for decades for its work and unique style of making music. The orchestra contributes to Croatian cultural folk inheritance and represents Croatia all over the Europe, and further. They have won multiple golden prizes „Tambura Pje Kolarića“ which they have won on every „International festival of Croatian tambura music in Osijek“. In 2015. they have participated in international festivals of Youth in Prague and have won the fi rst prize and a special recognition for the conductor Petra Vojvodić, and a solo performance of Marko Blaškovič. In 2017. the orchestra shows its excellence again winning the fi rst prize „Summa Cum laude“ and 100 points at the 65th European festival of Youth in Neerpelt, Belgium. Tambura orchestra Ferdo Livadić performs a wide range of compositions, all the way from traditional music of Samobor, through traditional music of Croatia, to the music written by Croatian and other authors written specially for tambura.
Roman Gross was born in Samobor in 1962., where he also fi nished elementary school and started his musical education in the Music school. Later on, he continues his musical education with private tutoring. In Zagreb he fi nished high school in the Art and Music Centre, and later University majoring in political science. In a Tambura orchestra of the HRT (Croatian national television) he works as a musician and composer, and since 2007. as editor and producer of the Orchestra. He is an author of many covers for tambura orchestra and a larger number of vocalinstrumental pieces. He worked as a teacher in the „Ferdo Livadić“ Music school in Samobor, and also as a tambura teacher in the Folk dance Department in the School of classical Ballet in Zagreb. Since 2008. he works as a conductor of the „mala škola tambure“, and occasionally as a conductor of the older orchestra T.D.“Ferdo Livadić“. As a conductor and a musical producer, he has participated in making about 3 cards which have won musical awards Porin as the best album in its category (7.desetljeća TO HRT,Siniša Lepold-autorski CD, Pozdrav Zagorju-kvartet Gubec i TO HRT). At the National competition of Tambura orchestras in the organization of the Croatian national culture assembly, he participates as the member of the jury.
