Mixed choir Gorenje from Velenje is a choir with more than fourty years long tradition. Throughout its continuous operation the choir tried to maintain the quality and attract singers of different ages and professions and managed to do this with the help of eminent conductors and interesting singing challenges. The choir regularly attends different Slovenian and international competitions. The competition with the most participants attended by the choir, were the 6th World Choir Games in Shaoxing (China) in 2006 where the choir won two silver medals. The choir has also got gold awards in competitions Riva del Garda (Italy )2012. At the last two international competitions which were held in Olomouc (Czech) 2015 and in Tuhelj (Chroatia) 2016, the choir won gold awards. Beside participation in different competitions, the choir has in recent years, as an ambassador of Slovenian and foreign songs, toured in many European countries.
Špela Kasesnik has obtained a master's degree in music education at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana. She also studied solo singing. She was taught choir conducting by Matjaž Šček and Jože Fürst. She broadened her knowledge at choral seminars at home and abroad. In the field of choir, she was further educated at various seminars and symposiums. She has gained her pedagogical experience at the Faculty of Education in Maribor as a teaching assistant for music education and vocal instructor teaching. She was a choirmaster of the mixed choir Mešani pevski zbor Tabor for 5 years. Since September 2013 she has been leading MePZ Gorenje.Back to the list of ensembles
