The Petit Ensemble is an orchestra for children aged between 8 and 12 years of age who study wide repertoire of music ranging from Baroque to modern pieces. The orchestra has played at numerous local events and was awarded first prize at the Music Festa Florence 2016 and was also awarded first prize at the National competition at Val di Sole in 2016.
Janet Zadow was born in Stockport, Cheshire, England and is a Graduate of the London College of Music studying violin, piano and conducting. She has attended many courses on violin teaching methods including those given by Sheila Nelson, Geza Silvay (Colour Strings) Marla Muchler on the Rolland Method. After eight years in the Netherlands where she taught privately, at the British School of Amsterdam and at the Stichting Musiek School Amstelveen she transferred to Italy. She has organised teaching courses in collaboration with the Centro Didattica di Fiesole and the European String Teachers Association covering various aspects of string teaching. At the moment she teaches violin and viola in various institutions in Florence, Italy and conducts the ‘Orchestra Giovanile di Firenze’ and the chamber orchestra ‘Petit Ensemble’.
