Jazz choir of Sverdlovsk State Children Philharmonic Society was founded under the guidance of Marina Makarova in 1988. Since that time the small group of children has turned into the creative team with about two hundred girls in it. At the present time the team consists of three age groups. The girls from eight to eleven years old study in The Junior group of Jazz choir (The conductor is Zlata Kozlovskaya). In addition to choral lessons children learn solfeggio, choreography and playing the piano. The kids get exposure to choral and theatrical culture and prepare to work in The Senior concert team of Jazz choir. The Team perform children’s songs of Russian and foreign composers, arrangements of Russian folk songs, jazz style compositions, compositions from famous groups’ repertory (such as ABBA, The Beatles, Arabesque), numbers from American musicals. The Junior group of Jazz choir is frequently competing in contests and festivals in Russia and abroad.
