Mols ACCORDEONENSEMBLE

The accordion class of the Academy of Music and Drama in Mol started in ‘96-’97 by Ludo Mariën. From the start, this has been a success formule. In addition to many invited guests from home and abroad for guest concerts, this class has already realized many projects, as well as some successful concert trips to Italy, Portugal, Austria and Germany. Annually, there are projects, concerts, workshops, accordion weekends, and work in various styles of program to promote the accordion.

Besides Mol, Ludo Mariën is head of accordion at the Royal Flemish Academy of Music in Antwerp. He has become an indispensable figure on the accordion music scene, lifting the so-called ‘piano of the poor’ to a high artistic level. Recorded 4 solo-CDs: Addendum, Reminiscencias, O felici orecchi miei! and Talpa. He has made concert appearances in various countries all over Europe, Australia, Russia, South Korea and USA, guest-starring, among others, with the world’s most famous tenor Pavarotti, Carreras, Domingo.
