The Adijamus Choir was established at Vilém Petrželka Elementary School of Art 14 years ago, and since its foundation, it has showcased its musical talent through numerous concerts and participation in various competitions. Considered a significant achievement, the choir proudly secured the 2nd place at the Slovakia Cantat 2023 international festival of choral singing in Bratislava, where it competed against some of the top choirs in Europe. Currently comprising 44 members with an average age of 13, the choir includes students from both musical and non-musical departments of the aforementioned art school. Many members, despite lacking formal singing training, excel as instrumentalists or artists. The Adijamus choir frequently performs in concerts organized by the art school, as well as in other events in Ostrava and the surrounding region. In the past, the choir collaborated with pop singer Martin Chodúr in a Christmas program and continues to work with another pop singer, Petr Bende. Choir members diligently prepare for their activities through regular school rehearsals and weekend sessions in the Beskydy Mountains. The choir's diverse repertoire spans from compositions of the Renaissance to those by modern contemporary authors, including folk songs, traditional and lesser-known carols, gospels, and pop music. The founder and choirmaster of Adijamus is Mgr. Jana Adamusová, with voice advisor Marie Kovalová, choir accompanist Mgr. Jana Neubauerová, and choir assistant MgA. Michaela Hejrová.
Mgr. Jana Adamusová leads Adijamus choir from its very beginning in 2010. She graduated at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ostrava. She has been teaching at Vilém Petrželka‘s Music School in Ostrava – Hrabůvka since 1996.
