During the course of its existence, The Choir of Masaryk University (Brno, CZ) has been attracting audiences not only in Brno, but around the whole country. It held many concerts and performances, and participated in festivals in both the Czech Republic and abroad, where solely the top prizes have been awarded to the choir. The choir, which comprises around 60 singers, students of Masaryk University, has been recently presenting itself as a cantata or an oratiorio choir as it has been co-operating with professional choirs and orchestras, and has also taken part in an opera ‘The Miracles of Maryʼ by Bohuslav Martinů, which was put on in the National Theatre of Brno in 2014/15 and 2015/16. In 2006, 2009 and 2012, the choir recorded acappella CDs.
MgA. Michal Vajda has been the choirmaster and conductor of the choir since it was founded in 2004. He also worked as a conductor of the choir Moravské děti, and between 2003 and 2014 as a teacher at the Department of Music at the Faculty of Education of the Masaryk University. He studied sacred music and choral conducting at JAMU in Brno under doc. Josef Pančík.
