The male choir "Gorol" was founded in 1947 by the local Polish Cultural and Educational Association in Jablunkov. Since its foundation, the choir has been very successful. It has participated in festivals, performances, singing competitions, folk festivals, choirs celebrations and celebrations of the Polish Cultural and Educational Association - PZKO. The choir was conducted by many conductors and in 2004, the choir underwent another change. The conducting baton was passed to Katarzyna Kantor and the choir "Gorol" was conducted under the baton of a female conductor for the first time in its history. During its 68 years of existence, the choir has given hundreds of concerts. Since 1965, the choir has been anually performing in Wisla at the "Week of Beskid Culture". The choir has participated as a member of the World Festival of Polish Choirs in Koszalin. In addition to numerous concerts in the Czech Republic and Poland, the choir also performed in Ukraine, Belarus, Slovakia, Greece, Austria and Italy. The current president of the choir is Grzegorz Skupień and the choir has currently 47 members.
Professor Alois Suchanek, DrSc, is a music pedagogue, a scholar in the field of science and art of Janusz Korczak Pedagogical University in Warsaw. He leads the male choir GOROL since 2015, after a serious illness of its previous conductor Ms. Katarzyna Kantor. In years 1981 to 2010 he acted as art advisor and the conductor of Polish Minority Teachers Choir in the Czech Republic. As the member and soloist of the Moravian Teachers Choir Society, professor Alois Suchanek has promoted and made famous the Czech choral music abroad, among others, in Japan, America and Canada. He has participated in many international concerts and European competitions.
