East China University of Science and Technology Students Chorus Group

Founded in 2008, Choir of East China University of Science and Technology is directed by associate professor Cao Huaqin, the Artistic Director of college students’ art troupe. The choir members carry out systematic and professional trainings on a regular basis and rehearse Chinese and foreign chorals of various forms and styles. Members cooperate with each while forming their own singing style. Many chorus special performances are held annually with several gold medals won in competitions in Shanghai. Superb concert performances in foreign affair receptions demonstrate the exquisite art style of the university students, showcase the school's rich cultural heritage, and promote school cultural exchanges with others, which not only animate the campus culture but also win honors for the school. In July 2013, the choir went to Hong Kong to take participate in "2013 Hong Kong International Youth Choir Festival", and won two silver awards in mixed chorus group and modern music group respectively. They took part in “The 10th Cantemus International Choral Festival”,winning a gold diploma in mixed chorus group and special award for the outstanding performance in 2014.
Hua-qin Cao

Cao Huaqin, an associate professor and Master of Fine Arts (MFA), is graduated from Conducting Major of Shanghai Conservatory of Music. He is now a member of Shanghai Musician Association, a member of Shanghai Chorus Association, the Vice-Chairman and concurrently the Secretary General of Shanghai Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles, and the Director of World Federation of Amateur Orchestras (WFAO). He is in the position of the Standing Conductor of the choir of East China University of Science and Technology, the Artistic Director of the Student Chorus, and the head of Art Education Center of the university. Having guided and managed the Student Chorus in the university for a long period of time, he has accumulated rich teaching experience. Under his guidance, the Student Chorus has won a lot of first prizes in international competition. What’s more, he has successfully conducted many concerts at Shanghai Grand Theater, Shanghai Concert Hall, He Luting Concert Hall, and Shanghai Oriental Art Center.
