The choir was established by the local authority in Horná Súča, a beautiful village near the town of Trenčín, at the borders of Slovakia and Moravia. It was originally established as a women choir in 1974 by the local teacher Mr. Ján Kozár. In 1984, the conductor’s place was taken by Mr. Miluláš Medvec, who added male voices to it. Another conductor was Mr. Jozef Vakoš. During its existence the choir has been awarded many diplomas in local competitions in Trenčín, Trenčianske Teplice and Komárno. It has been enriching the cultural and spiritual life of the village and the areas nearby. The repertoire of the choir includes world and domestic choral literature starting with Renaissance up to present. It is one of the choirs with the longest tradition on the territory of the Trenčín region. At present, it has 30 members. For many people, choral singing has become a lifelong interest. There are couples, mothers and daughters, and a grandmother with granddaughters signing in the choir. Since May 2013, the conductor of the choir is Ms Zlatica Šatková, who graduated from the Music School in Žilina (2001). She works as a singing and piano teacher at the local Art school.
