The vocal group Mladost (the word »mladost« meaning youth) from Lukovica was formed in 2012 and has been led by choir leader Simona Burkeljca since then. In the current singing season the group has welcomed many new members and because of this, we can say that a new wind is blowing, fresh and full of energy, joy and of course youth. The vocal group consists of 26 female singers. Its repertoire is varied, it includes Slovene folk and author songs, as well as songs from foreign authors and of different periods. The goals of this season are clear, these are once again good presentation in contests in Slovenia, participation in different events and in the international singing contest Slovakia Cantat in Bratislava.
Simona Burkeljca
Conductor / Leader
Simona Burkeljca was born in 1977 and is today a music teacher at Janko Kersnik Primary School. She graduated at the Academy of music (University of Ljubljana) in 2001 and is currently about to finish her Master's Degree. She has led different choirs and participated in national and intenational singing contests with them. At the school where she works, she is the choir leader of school choirs. They regularly participate in the singing contest Festa Musicale in Olomouc, Czech Republic. This year the vocal group Mladost will participate in an international contest for the first time.
