TECHNIK CHOIR STU was established in 1956 at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava. Besides many concerts and CD recording the choir has presented several world premieres of prestigious Slovak composers (Peter Martinček, Pavol Šimai, Ľuboš Bernáth...) in cooperation with prominent Slovak conductors (Rastislav Štúr, Martin Majkút, Oliver Dohnányi...). One of the highlights of the previous seasons was a concert with Dmitrij Hvorostovski in Bratislava conducted by Constantine Orbelian. Currently the choir is led by the young and ambitious conductor, Petra Torkošová. Since its establishment and over its 55 years of existence, Technik has been studying and interpreting many masterpieces of both Slovak and foreign composers and several concerts have been organized in cooperation with Slovak Philharmonic. Petra has founded and led for ten years children's choir Gorazdík in Vrbové with which she performed at various festivals and concerts at home and abroad. she GRADUATED at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, at the Department of Choral Conducting, led by Prof. Blanka Juhaňáková ArtD. Since 2013, she has been the conductor of the Technik choir. She has also performed at The Festival of Contemporary Music – Orfeus in Bratislava where under her baton tracks of young Slovak composers, innovative through their work with sound in space, were premiered. She has cooperated on international projects in Luxembourg and Israel, where she has conducted several concerts. She is currently teaching at the Conservatory in Bratislava.
