Schola Cantorum Rosenbergensis is a vocal ensemble that focuses on the interpretation of classic Gregorian chant as well as modern liturgic music by Slovak and foreign composers. The schola´s mission is to inspire and deepen interest in spiritual values by means of meditative monodic singing whose contents are the Holy Bible i.e. Word of God. The schola was founded in 1999 by its present conductor Janka Bednáriková, graduate of the Pontifi cal Institute of Sacred Music in Rome. The ensemble´s repertoire includes Latin mass chants, chants of the liturgy of the hours and more recent free compositions that became the basis of polyphonic music. The schola, composed of students of the Music Department, regularly perfoms at masses and sacred music concerts home and abroad (France, Germany, Czech Rep. Poland, Hungary). The schola cooperates with Rastislav Adamko, Stanislav Šurin and Peter Hochel – authors of new Slovak liturgical chants that are gradually being introduced in the present liturgy.
