The University of California, Irvine choirs have taken twenty-five international concert tours and have had prize winning performances at the World Choir Games (2006, 2010), International Musical Eisteddfod, Llangollen, Wales (1979, 1986, 1992, 1997, 2008), Béla Bartók International Choral Competition, Debrecen, Hungary (1988, 1994, 2000) and the Koorfest, den Haag, Holland (1979). Concert appearances have been made in the cathedrals of York, Sterling, Westminster, Coventry, Canterbury, Ely, Burgos, Liverpool and Boston. Formal concerts presentations include the cities of Tokyo, Hong Kong, Seoul, Taipei, Budapest, Warsaw, Prague, and Vienna. They also accepted invitations to perform at international festivals in Spain (2000, 2001), South Korea (2003, 2006) and Mexico (2002, 2006, 2014). The Chamber Singers are credited in the IMAX production "To the Limit". Six choirs currently form the nucleus of the Choral Organizations at Irvine and include singers from most major academic disciplines in the university.
Andrew Ball has assisted with the direction of choirs at the University of California Irvine since 2008, where he currently conducts the University BATS Chorus. Andrew is also the Choir Director at Harbor Christian Church, where he has conducted since 2009, and the Music Teacher at Los Alamitos Elementary School since 2011, where he teaches ukulele and general music and conducts a one-hundred voice children’s choir. Andrew holds a BA in Music and a Teaching Credential from the University of California, Irvine, and is currently in his first year of coursework to obtain a Master of Performance degree in Choral Conducting from California State University at Fullerton. During his education, Andrew has had the privilege to study with such notable conductors as Joseph Huszti and Dr. Stephen Tucker at UCI, and Dr. Robert Istad and Dr. Chris Peterson at CSU Fullerton. After completing work on his graduate degree, Andrew hopes to pursue a doctorate in either Choral Conducting or Choral Music Education. In addition to his time teaching, Andrew regularly performs with the UCI Men in Blaque, with whom he has performed in Shaoxing, China and Yeosu, South Korea, as well as notable US venues such as the Washington DC National Gallery of Art.
