Girls Choir of Gimnazija Ptuj

The Girls Choir of “Gimnazija Ptuj” Grammar School consists of 32 singers. The choir regularly participates in school and municipal celebrations and gladly accepts invitations from various event organizers. Last year, they performed 14 times on different occasions, the latest being at the main municipal recognition award ceremony and at the international Arsana Music Festival. Every year, the girls qualify for the regional choral competitions. In addition to hard work during their practicing and rehearsals, they still find time to get to know each other and socialize with their fellow singers, which further motivates them and adds to the enjoyment of singing in a choir. The Bratislava Cantat Festival this year will be their first experience of presenting themselves at an event and competition of this kind.
Eva Barbara Vilčnik

Eva Barbara Vilčnik is a music professor and educator who has been the leader of Gimnazija Ptuj Girls Choir for three years. She completed her musical studies at the Faculty of Education of the University of Maribor and gained additional teaching experience by conducting music workshops, children's, and youth choirs. She is also a singing teacher in her own music association, and has gained useful knowledge from the renowned Slovenian baritone Samo Ivačič and opera singer Mojca Potrč. She collaborated with the Slovenian National Theatre on various projects (the Slovenian opera "Črne Maske", Verdi's "Aida," Beethoven's 9th Symphony), which also toured in Croatia and Japan. For several years, she was also a member of the Hugo Wolf Choir from Maribor, with whom she performed in Slovenia, Croatia, Slovakia, and Austria.
