In the Youth Choir of the primary school OŠ. n. h. Maksa Pečarja there are 23 children aged 10 to 15 years. We regularly participate in different cultural events in our community and at school. Twice a year we join forces with the school’s Children’s Choir and prepare a concert for a wider audience. In March 2017, we put on stage a very interesting and educational concert entitled Ena ptička priletela (A birdy came flying), which encompassed different folk songs from all over the world. The choir’s quality was also noticed by other experts and consequently the choir held two appearances at the Slovene national conductor’s seminar as a demonstrative choir. In 2017 we took part at the regional competition of children’s and youth choirs of central Slovenia and won a gold award with honours as well as an award for the best choir. In the same year the choir also received an invitation to participate in the national project Potujoča muzika (Travelling music) which is held every two years and where only the chosen choirs from Slovenia can take part in. The appearance at the Bratislava international festival will be our first international competition and a great honour and challenge.
